ASPB Stands with Maui The recent devastation in West Maui, including the town of Lāhainā and several neighboring communities, far exceeds the physical losses, as residents mourn the lives, homes, businesses, livelihoods, and places of cultural and historical significance that have been lost. ASPB is committed to supporting the people and businesses of Hawaii while also aiding those directly affected as they heal and rebuild. Although Lāhainā and West Maui remain closed, small businesses and residents across Hawaii are relying on visitors to remain open. This is why, through responsible travel and tourism and with counsel from the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau, Plant Biology 2024 will proceed as scheduled in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Although the program is currently being planned, Plant Biology 2024 will provide opportunities for attendees to connect with and further support our host city and state. In addition, ASPB will soon make a contribution to a Maui-focused foundation to help with residents’ most urgent needs.
